Earthquake experts from arround the globe made their way to Portland, Oregon last week to share new information and to raise awareness about the "big one" that could strike at any moment. The undersea fault along the Pacific Northwest coast is capable of producing the same type of mega earthquake as that witnessed in Chile. This fault has laid dormant for over 300 years, but data spanning the seismic activity in this region for the past 10,000 years indicates a pattern, suggesting that we are due for another "big one".  It is estimated that there is now a 37% chance of an 8.2 - 8.8 magnitude quake due to hit off the Oregon, Northern California coast. So what do the expets recommend? They strongly suggest having a Disaster Preparedness Plan, and an Emergency Supplies Kit.
