  1. Shelter is one of the most important parts of survival, without shelter you are vulnerable to the elements and debis. There is always a place to seek cover in an emergency, for example: A car, any nearby building, or covered area. Shelter is an important part of survival because it will keep you dry and warmer or cooler than being outside.

  3. With many states covered in snow including: Texas, Massachusetts, New York, and Washington D.C. Roads are getting more and more dangerous. First and foremost for survival, in the wilderness, or in your home, is water. We each need 2 quarts of water each day to maintain us. The best advice is to stock up on bottled water, or collect water by other means. In a desperate frenzy you could fill a bath tub or sink with water.
  7. In a survival situation shelter is a necessity. To make a simple shelter just find a big leafy tree. Get a large branch about 2-3 feet taller than yourself. Secure one end of the branch to the tree and the other to the grounded at a 45 degree angle.

  12. Seismic activity is on the rise in many regions of the US. You never know where the next earthquake could hit. With a possible major earthquake overdue to occur in the northwest, California, and Nevada. Are you one of the seven in ten Americans unprepared for a disaster? We all know that there is no way to avoid an earthquake, but you can take steps to prepare for the worst.
Earthquakes can be massively destructive, and can affect power, ability to cook, ability to stay warm, or even to entertain the young ones sometimes for long periods of time.
